The next chapter

Hello friends! So here’s the thing. I’ve been in rebranding (and renaming) the blog mode and it’s driving me all sorts of crazy. It’s hard to explain why I feel like a new name is needed. There are many reasons, really. I thrive on change and feel like the Katy Loves chapter is done (wait — don’t leave!) I’m still going to be blogging, but with more focus. A different focus. I feel like I’ve grown and learned so much about myself in the last 2 1/2 years. Mostly in the last few months, to be completely honest.

I can hardly believe that this month marks four years of blogging. First as a food blogger, then lifestyle blogger. This next chapter is going to incorporate a mix of both. Still a lifestyle blog, but with style and food mixed in as well. I’ve got a vision for it, I just need a name. I know I’m not supposed to talk about this part. I’m just supposed to be like wa-la! New name! Magic! But, I wanted to mention why I’ve been so quiet.

My brain has been in anxious hibernation mulling different names around and realizing I am still, very much, my own worst critic.

So, it’s coming friends. I just need to find the right name and right place to refresh my little blog home, so to speak.

Many thanks to Gracie and friends (and the husband) for letting me run many, many names by them in hopes of finding a gem. It’s much appreciated.

In related news: if you need a new blog name, I’ve got like 100 I’m not using.

| from zada jane’s. yes, that’s bacon on a salad. |

Happy Friday, friends! It’s our last hurrah, as I’m calling it, before Adam begins a 10-week intensive coding school program. On top of work. So basically, I’m about to have A LOT of time to myself. I’m setting goals for the next ten weeks to keep myself bus which includes some major blog overhaul. I’m actually excited about that aspect of it. Not the barely seeing my husband every week part. I like to stay positive because I know that, inevitably, I’m going to have some lonely moments until November arrives. Luckily, I have some great friends in Charlotte to hang with. See, there’s always a positive.

Another positive? We’re heading to the mountains this evening. Even better? We’re heading to BACON FEST tomorrow. Yes, a festival celebrating all things bacon. It shall be delightful.

Happy weekend, you goofballs!

hello there, fall. goodbye there, fall.

A couple weekends ago, Fall dropped in unexpectedly. Just for a few days, but long enough to give me that feeling I get every year, the first time I get to open the windows up after a sweltering summer. Like happiness and comfort. Do you know the feeling? That feeling of refreshment and joy when a cool breeze blows into the house. Fresh air just smells amazing, doesn’t it? Those few days were heaven! Thursday was in the low-mid 70’s and just gorgeous out. Adam was restless and declared that we just couldn’t stay inside. We just couldn’t. It was way too gorgeous outside. We had to postpone dinner and take the dogs out and do something. Now, we’re not super brave when it comes to taking the dogs out with us. They are two hyper-active two-year-old retrievers. It usually spells disaster. But, we recently decided that everything they have trouble with won’t get better if we avoid it. Such as long walks, taking them to social events or even just out for a drink. We decided we’d try a local brewery, Birdsong, since they have a large outdoor area.

The verdict? Success! Although it was a bit hairy at first, they calmed down a lot and did really well. The unlimited supply of peanuts certainly didn’t hurt the mission. It gave me hope that we can do this more once Fall really does arrive. It won’t be a moment too soon as today hit triple digits. I’m still trying to hold onto that feeling of joy with the cooler air until it returns. It can’t come soon enough!
