Doing nothing.

My body made a decision Saturday morning as to what was ailing it. I was officially sick. My sister and her boyfriend were in town, so I mustered up energy to head to a brewery to catch up with them and was thankful for a good half a day in their company before they headed back up to the mountains and I promptly came home and crawled right back into my PJs. I was e x h a u s t e d. My throat was burning, my head was spinning and I was ready to do absolutely nothing for hours. So, that’s what I did. Adam had a guys night and I was left to watch whatever girly thing I wanted to before he came home with ice cream and popsicles. Being sick wasn’t the worst thing ever, I suppose. At least not when it involved ice cream.

Sunday, we didn’t leave the house until four and it was just what we needed. It’s a weird season of life right now, guys. Not the easiest for many reasons and it’s tough on us both physically and emotionally. Sometimes I feel lazy just doing nothing all day and other times I know it’s just what I need to do. Sometimes the most important thing you can do for yourself is nothing. Rest is a beautiful thing and we tried to give ourselves plenty of it this weekend. We could use a few more days of it, but Monday has arrived. Here’s to a much better week and some more rest, as needed.

at certain points life, sickness is the only way we ever get any real, true rest :( hope you are feeling back to normal soon.

Rest is a necessity! Kudos to you for listening to your body and giving it what it needs. Hoping your spirits are lifted this week.

  • Thank you! I hope so too. It’s desperately needed! Hope you have a great week!

  • Isn’t it the truth? It’s hard to really, truly rest. I had a hard time not forcing myself to do things or go to the gym for a workout, but I had no other choice with how I was feeling. I’m stubborn!
