what a few days without the husband looks like

posted on: Wednesday, February 6, 2013

Dearest husband,

This is what life is like when you’re out of town.

It looks like some various chick flick playing on my laptop while I lie in bed at night. Usually You’ve Got Mail (at least twice) but I did also watch The Wedding Planner this time.

It looks like sad puppies who don’t even have the will to play ball.

It looks like procrastination and leaving various chores to the last minute before you get home.

It looks like cleaning the house. Which I’d have a photo of but, well, see previous statement.

It looks like dinner with friends on a Tuesday night. Friends or pho? Both. Always both!

It looks like photos that don’t need a caption.

I miss you so much and can’t wait to see you tonight! Fly safe, my love.

Love,
Katy, Nola and Penny Lane

Well I had one day with your husband and it was awesome!

  • Husband

Aww, love this post. See you soon :)

  • this is such a sweet post! The last time my fiance went out of town, our gray cat, dorian, sat on the table every night watching the front door, waiting. the night the fiance came home, I gave Dorian a few scritches and said “your boy comes home tonight,” and when The Boy got home, Dorian was trying to climb through the window to get after him. It was SO adorable.

  • I know! So glad you guys got to hang out while he was there.

  • Cannot wait!

  • Thank you! That’s so sweet. I love how much the animals miss us when we’re gone!

  • haha this is exactly what it looks like for me when the hubs is away too!

  • Ha, it’s some kinds of wonderful to have time for as many chick flicks as you’d like! The only problem is when it gets pretty late and your old house makes creaks. That’s no fun!

  • Some part of me loves when I get the house to myself because I get to watch all those lovely romantic comedies one right after the other without any complaints and groans from the sidelines. Also, I get to make myself a meal with olives in it. He hates olives, I love ’em!

  • i love this as the scene at my house is quite similar when the hubbs is away! and i also love the fact that you took time out of your day to stop by my blog and leave some words. thank you so much! and i hope your hubby makes his way safely home to you soon;)

  • This is exactly how weeks look when my husband is out of town for work. Sounds like when yours is flying in, mine will be leaving for 6 days. It’s nice to have the down time and to get stuff done without anyone around but by day 3 it gets borrrring. Sounds like you were able to stay busy with some fun stuff though!
    xoxo

  • He is home and he is safe and all is right with the world again! Thanks for visiting my blog, Chandra!

  • Exactly. Luckily, he was only gone three days so I hit the boring mark just as he got back. Hope those six days fly by for you, Erin!

  • Hi Katy! I just found your blog… I really love it! This post was funny to me because my husband is out of town (he’s in aviation so he’s gone a lot) and I just watched Sleepless in Seattle, haha! I was thinking about watching You’ve Got Mail tonight :)

    Have a wonderful weekend!

  • Oh my gosh, hi Jacquelynn! So glad you found my blog and that you love it. It means the world to me! Oh goodness, I have a friend who’s married to a pilot. That must be tough! Meg Ryan movies definitely cure the “husband’s-out-of-town” blues. Yes, please watch You’ve Got Mail tonight! Congratulations on your gender reveal! Can’t wait to hear if it’s a boy or girl!

  • Aww, thank you so much… I am so excited! And yes, I think I will watch the movie tonight… it’s cold here and it sounds like the perfect thing to watch under my big ‘ol blanket :)
