Take a deep breath

One of my favorite times of the day is my post-workout drive home. There are two good ways to get home, one way is pretty fast and usually involves some honking and tons of headache. The second takes a little bit longer, but it’s a beautiful drive. I usually choose to take the latter. The long, more scenic route that requires me to drive a little slower and take my time through my favorite neighborhood in Charlotte. The weather has been gorgeous lately and is warming up a bit, so the windows come down and the music turns up. My albums of choice lately have been The Weepies “Say I Am You” and Bon Iver’s “For Emma, Forever Ago”, my perfect Fall soundtracks.

It’s just nice to take a few moments to slow down, relax and take a deep breath. I have to insert moments like these into my day sometimes. It helps me to de-stress, if only for a little bit. Do you set aside little moments like that? I highly recommend it and if you need some good music recommendations for those moments, I’m always here. Feel free to e-mail me anytime!

Happy weekend, friends. Make it a beautiful one.

  • I’m with you on taking the scenic route home. Especially after a hectic day, it’s very relaxing. So far, I think Connecticut has the best scenic route just about anywhere that you drive. :-)

  • Oh, I bet! I will not argue with you there, Connecticut is beautiful!

  • That picture is gorgeous, and I love love love the Weepies.
Also, I got up around 9 today even though I commented on your post “promising” I’d be up at 7:30. that went really well! haha.

  • The scenic route is always the best route. I used to do that driving home from classes when I lived at home.

  • ohhh yes! im loving afternoon drives lately! the trees are gorrrgeous right now! your route looks a bit like dilworth, no?
