Our weekend was spent in the Virginia wine country and Charlottesville with my in-laws. I loved getting time to relax with them and a chance to bring Nola on a little trip of ours. We had a wonderful time watching my father-in-law play music, sipping on some wine and just enjoying the company of friends and family. Enjoying cool, rainy weather and days spent in rain boots. A time to enjoy the simple things and appreciate those around us.

The morning we left for our trip was the morning of the Colorado tragedy. I was in a daze all day Friday, unable to shake the deep sadness of the situation. The lives lost. The stories. It really puts so much into perspective. How fragile life truly is, how much we need to appreciate the present and share love with those around us. To focus on coming together as a country to love on one another and treat each other with extra gentleness. At least, that’s what I hope to do. What I hope to take in from all of the sadness. The ability to love better and appreciate life more. To not take the sweet, small moments of joy for granted.

My deepest prayers go out to the families of the victims and all those effected by the shooting in Colorado. Our hearts are with you!

my day trips to cville always remind me what its like to slow down. i think it has something to do with the scenery.

  • Yes! I love places like that. I especially love all the shops in one place. It’s a great place to spend a few hours and just browse. The campus there is beautiful as well!
