“There’s not enough time..where’d the time go..hello, time? if you could just slow down…” We’re always asking so much of time, but when do we look at ourselves and contemplate how we’re using it? Time is never going to cooperate with us. It’s going to keep moving. If you sit still too long, before you know it, it’ll be gone. Poof! Done.

Time management is something I am always working on with myself. I’m not the best at it. Time and I rarely get along. Either it moves too slow or too fast. It’s time I start looking at myself and how I handle time. Time needs to be utilized, every drop of it. Even if you plan some time for rest, plan it. You need it. If you plan to do nothing, you’re accomplishing something. Does this make sense or is this all a bunch of jumbled pieces of words I strung together? My brain is working overtime right now.

I always feel each day passes before I can even get a grasp on it, but it’s never going to change. Time is going to keep on keeping on.

Jon Acuff was a speaker at Blissdom and shared a moment he had with his daughter. He was helping her with her homework and started to tweet something, until his little girl wrote on a napkin, “Daddy pay attenshun” and placed it on his phone. Sweetly heartbreaking, isn’t it? With a job like social media marketing, I am always plugged in to technology. I don’t want to get in the habit of always having my nose buried in electronics. I want to be used to living life away from the bright glow of my computer or phone.

My goal is to work hard when it’s time to work and rest fully when needed. To utilize time to the best of my ability. To organize, to get myself thinking clearly. To plan breaks every now and then. To shut down what needs to be shut down and just unplug every once in a while. To take much better care of myself….and my time.

Thoughts? Do you struggle with time management? Do you ever feel frustrated at how fast time flies? I would love to hear your thoughts and suggestions for me! I really want to create more of a community here on the blog and it starts with you! Please feel free to share your heart here.

One last thought: Today will be the only Mach 1st of 2012 that you will ever get. Live it well!

  • I completely understand your difficulties with time management, I have the same problems. In fact, I find that the more things I have to do, the worse I am about dividing out my time. Recently, I’ve been trying to focus on the idea of taking “active breaks”. Basically, when I’m not working on a specific project, I’m still doing something I want to do as opposed to say wandering around on the internet. Taking some time out to read, bake, take a walk, or talk with friends always helps me to regain focus AND get something done at the same time.
Good luck, time management is a process that I think everyone works at mastering!

Hello Katy, for me, time management is a process… I have been from this issue and I really had a hard time trying to fix my schedule. What I did is focus on one thing first and later on when I can fully handle multi-tasking, that was the start I learned how to manage time management.
