Shine on.

On New Years Day, the husband and I went on a little date for sushi. It was delicious. But the best part of the night may have been the fortune cookie I received. On the first day of the new year, I received my biggest goal of all. God definitely placed this in my hands and on my heart for a reason.

This year, my biggest goal of all is to shine. Not to be a mirror image of anyone else, to shine by being who I am. To stop constantly comparing myself to others and worrying. God gave me this life, this body, this soul. I will work on loving myself more and loving others more. Not only will it make me a better person, it’ll make me better in every area of my life. A better wife, daughter, sister and friend.

This year, let us all shine. The world would be a much more boring place if we were all the same.

Pastor Steven just posted this. Such a good mirror of what you are saying.

  • Oh wow, what a great fortune!
Also, a great goal for 2012. Thank you! <3

  • LOVE this word for the year! (are you familiar with Ali Edwards one little word project, or Rachel Wilkerson’s verb? Both are perfect reading for your connection to SHINE!)

  • Wow, that’s absolutely incredible! Love that message. Sometimes I long for the success others have. Then I realized, if I envy others lives then I am severely distrusting God’s plan for mine. I do not want to do that. God has wonderfully amazing things in store for me and I can’t wait to see what!

  • I’ve seen it around the blog world! I’ve been struggling with which one word to choose. Perhaps this was God’s way of telling me to shine. :)

  • It was too good to not share!

  • I LOVE that fortune!! Shine on, girl! :)

  • you probably don’t spend much time watching my little pony videos {yet}
but because of one in particular, my little bean ALWAYS since she was two tells me to “shine on” “shine on mommy” might be my favorite words.
This post almost made me cry.
    You are awesome.

  • Aww, your story almost made me cry! How sweet is that? :) YOU are awesome!

  • Andee Eve

May you trust and know Him in a deeper way this year. You are fearfully and wonderfully made, the apple of His eye. May you find the reflection of yourself in His eyes alone. You are His special treasure. May 2012 be the year that He shines through you in any and every thing that you do.
    In Jesus’ name Amen

  • Andee, this just made my day! Thank you so, so much for encouraging me and praying for me. Your words and prayers mean the world. I needed to read that today. Oh and I love your blog! :)

  • Hopping over from “A Tiny Twig”… I love your word for the year, and I love what it means to you. I think we all need to shine a little brighter, to not be so scared of being just who we were created to be. Thanks for that reminder. :)

  • Oh yay! Glad you hopped on over here. Yes, exactly! Let’s all be who we were meant to be. Not who someone else was made to be.
