Christmas Questions.

Found this quiz thanks to sweet Casey from this blog right here.

1. Egg nog or hot chocolate? I love eggnog, but I definitely prefer hot chocolate. Cozy, warm, comforting, chocolate. Done and done!

2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree? Gifts are wrapped, except for the smaller stocking stuffers.

3. Colored lights on tree/house or white? I prefer white lights for the outside and, as you can tell above, we use multicolored lights for our tree, though I’d prefer white for those too.

4. Do you hang mistletoe? We don’t at our house. No shortage of kisses here!

5. When do you put your decorations up? The weekend after Thanksgiving. Adam won’t let me do it a minute earlier, but I do appreciate him letting me get Christmas started before December arrives. I need my tree around as long as possible.

6. What is your favorite holiday dish? Green bean casserole, turkey with stuffing and cranberries. Yum!

7. Favorite holiday memory as a child? I just remember every Christmas eve. We’d go to my Aunt’s house and hang out with the cousins, then we’d go home and open our Christmas P.J.’s(a tradition that lives on to this day) and then we’d go to bed. I just remember that sense of excitement and joy knowing Santa was coming. I just wanted to fast forward Christmas eve and slow Christmas as much as possible.

8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? I figured out the truth when I saw a doll I had asked for in my mom’s closet(I was a sneaky little one), when I was about eight, I think? When mom told me Santa brought it, I nodded and smiled not wanting to give myself up but inside I was freaking out a bit.

9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? Just our Christmas pajamas.

10. How do you decorate your Christmas tree? With regular ball ornaments, multicolored lights, and my collection of mainly Hallmark ornaments from years before. I like the memories each one brings. We have an ornament from the Jelly Belly factory that we got during our honeymoon, an ornament for Nola, and my mom and sister gifted us with an ornament for our future be adopted sometime in 2012(yes we already know the breed we’re looking to rescue). Oh and candy canes! We pick those off throughout the month to enjoy.

11. Snow! Love it or dread it? Love, love, love! Sad we’re going through abnormally high temps this season so far. I want my snow! Can’t wait to see Nola play in it. Hoping for a snow day or two this winter.
12. Can you ice skate? Not at all, really. I usually can’t move a ton and end up with identical bruises on my knees!
13. Do you remember your favorite gift? I just celebrated Christmas with my family this past weekend and, a few months ago, I had mentioned that I wanted to learn piano. I completely forgot about it and had decided to just practice guitar, since I didn’t even own a keyboard. Well, my mom shocked me.
“Now go chase those music dreams of yours”, she said to me.
14. What’s the most important thing about the holidays for you? Being with family, slowing down, disconnecting from the internet and reconnecting with what’s truly important.
15. What is your favorite holiday dessert? Cookies, pumpkin spiced anything and eggnog(it’s so rich, it’s dessert).
16. What is your favorite holiday tradition? Getting together with family and Christmas PJ’s. I can’t wait to start holiday traditions with our own kids someday!
17. What tops your tree? A star that looks like it’s made out of twigs and holly.
18. Which do you prefer: Giving or receiving? Giving, definitely giving. It’s tough this year, because money is very, very, very tight thanks to our big move, but we do what we can.

19. Candy canes: yuck or yummy? Yummy, for sure.

20. Favorite Christmas movie? A Christmas Story is my number one. I also love Christmas vacation, The Santa Clause, Elf and Miracle on 34th Street.

21. Saddest Christmas song? Christmas shoes…have you heard that song? Such a sad, sweet song.

22. What is your favorite Christmas song? Just heard this one in church last Sunday, but it has quickly become a favorite! A great reminder of the true reason for Christmas.

  • i am so excited for you and that keyboard!!! and i love what your mom said when you got it. PERFECTION! [and i cant wait to hear more about Nola’s pending fur-pal!]

  • Aw, thank you sweet Heather! I am so excited too! Been practicing guitar a lot lately, so I now I have the piano too. Soooo thrilled! :)

  • Oh fun, I may have to steal this!

  • My mom bought us the hallmark ornaments too… each year since we were born then gave them to us when we got married! Loved your candy cane on tree thing too!!

  • Of course! These fun quizzes are meant to be “stolen”. ;)

  • I just got all of my “daughter” ornaments from years prior last year and got to put them up for the first time on my tree. It’s so special, isn’t it? Love these little traditions!

  • I did this too! :)
    so fun!
I need to find a piano like that for my kids who are starting piano lessons.
    Merry Christmas!

  • Jes

Chris and I collect Christmas ornaments. We started by purchasing an ornament during our first vacation together, and we have purchased one for every vacation since. We found one last year after our engagement, and I purchased a 26.2 ornament this year after running my first marathon. We even have them for all of our furry babies. We want our tree to be filled with memories.

And have you tried the Silk Egg Nog? It has the same flavor just not as thick (and less calories). I really enjoy it in iced coffee.

  • It’s a Yamaha keyboard! How fun that they’re starting lessons. I wish I kept up with mine from when I was a little kid.

    Merry Christmas to you!
