It’s August 31st and many people are paying their homage to August as we enter in September time. I love September, mainly because it means we’re one step closer to Fall. I can feel it. Well, now that I live in Charlotte, I really can feel it. In the mornings, in the evenings, that delicious break from the heat hits us just as the sun goes down and just as it’s coming up. It’s so lovely. Really, very lovely. I can run either time of the day and that is such a gift. In Florida, I have to run in the mornings because the evenings don’t cool down until mid-late October. I’m so grateful for the break in the heat and the fact that the leaves are already starting to turn. It should be beautiful. I can’t wait to experience this new season.

Our first Fall in Charlotte.

I’m excited for my wellies, my boots, my scarves, my skinny jeans, cardigans, soy chai lattes on cold mornings, the crunch of the leaves beneath my feet, chunky sweaters, knit hats, ugg boots, leggings, dark nail polish, layers, windows open to let in fresh air, autumn candles, cold weekend mornings we can sleep in to, pumpkin everything, fall beers, warm stews and chili to cool our bones, the holiday season and so much more. The fall and winter seasons are my better half of the year. I was in the mountains recently, where it’s about twenty degrees cooler at all times, and the weather was gorgeous. I just couldn’t convince myself that it wasn’t already Fall. I had that light, giddy feeling that I feel when the weather is cold. I couldn’t help but smile. I’m so excited for that.

Happy September eve, everyone. :)

  • September Eve – LOVE it! And I am excited for everything you listed there as well! Unless we get lucky it won’t get cool in Northern Virginia for another few weeks but I’m excited for it whenever it comes! Fall is my favorite!

  • It’s hot in Asheville!!! Send some of those cool evenings here :)

    Love this post.

  • I know! I can feel the change in the air too!! Can’t wait for fall :)

  • Thanks, friend. :) But wait, you’re in the mountains..you’re supposed to be cooler than us!! :) Wait..I just checked..you ARE cooler than us! Today is a high of 86 and Monday is a high of 74. You have no reason to complain! ;)

  • It’s cooling off at night, but still warm in the day. Can’t wait for it to totally cool down here!

  • For me, the first sign of fall wasn’t the change in temperature, but the angle of the light in the morning. Our last winter was a tad on the brutally cold side, so I am not super anxious for fall, but I cannot wait to crunch leaves under my feet!
