Surprise parties are the greatest.

Yesterday was my dear friend, Gen’s, birthday. We joined in on a little surprise shindig after her birthday dinner. When we arrived, we immediately got to work blowing up balloons. My husband has balloon skills that were, up until last night, very unknown to me. He just signed up for balloon duty for any and all future children we may have. Way to go, babe.

{ I‘m either blowing up a balloon or blowing up a very impressive gum bubble. You pick. }

I make the tiniest balloons ever because I’m not-so-secretly afraid they will pop right in my hands as I try and tie them. You call them wimpy, I call them dainty.

April 10th was also the birthday of my friend’s Ruth and Amanda. April 10th is a big day for birthdays, actually. I think I know 14 people who have that birthday. Anywho, Amanda lives in Raleigh so Ruth skyped her in to make sure she and her husband could join in on the fun.

{ Isn’t the internet magical? }

Then, it was time..

Mission accomplished.

Ruth made a half-brownie pizookie cake. I didn’t get a chance to try it, but I had to show off how amazing it looked.

When Adam gets a hold of my camera, he usually takes 50 pictures and won’t stop until I manually remove the camera from his hands. He may have taken the most absurd picture of me ever last night, sorry to be a tease but I won’t be posting that bad boy. It’s in hiding for moments when I need a good laugh. Impromptu photo shoots seem to naturally occur with these girls and I love it! Happy birthday Gen!

Before I sign off, please head on over to Heather’s blog for her Raffle for Life that’s going on right now. She’s helping her cousin raise money in memory of their Aunt Pat who passed away from cancer. It’s for an amazing cause, so head on over and buy some tickets! The raffle is LIVE until this Saturday, April 16th.

  • Looks like you had a great time! I love skype so much, considering alot of my friends are not living near me I am constantly using it to catch up :)

  • Your skirt is precious! Where did you get it?

  • It looks like you had a lot of fun! …and what a cute outfit!

  • J. Crew outlet! :)

  • I agree! Skype is one amazing invention. When I lived in Italy for 6 weeks, I just made calls using Skype credits, so affordable and kept me in touch with my parents!

  • What a fun, fun party. I’m so happy the Kelly asked about the skirt – I was going to ask the same question. It’s adorable! :)

  • Alexis

    No way! My dad’s birthday is April 10! Not only that, I just got a new roommate, and her dad’s birthday is April 10…lol. They are like 50 and 60 though…

  • Thank you! It also has POCKETS! I actually realized the other day the only three skirts I own have pockets. It’s usually a done-deal if it has pockets. ;)

  • Ha, still! SO many people.

  • Adam

  • Yes you did babe, yes you did. ;)
