For Christmas, we headed to North Carolina. This is what happened before we met Mr. Snowman.
My mom & step-father have a house in the mountains they just redid and we got to cozy up in that tiny house surrounded by snow. Literally, for a couple days there we were stuck. Remember that HUGE storm that traveled up the east coast? Yes, we were there!
Six people stuck on a mountain in a tiny house can be tough, but I couldn’t help admire the beauty of the snow.
This is a “before the snow hit” picture.
I also dyed my hair while I was there. Actually, the very night we got there. I mentioned that I had been thinking about it, so before we trekked up the mountain we bought a box. A glass of wine and 10 minutes later..I was a brunette.
..and I’m not going back blonde anytime soon.
Okay, back to the snow..
I’ve been praying for a snow-white Christmas since I could remember, being a Florida baby and all. God definitely delivered snow from each of the years I had prayed for it. Combined. I got to sled as much as I wanted and finally had a snowball fight.
The dark spot was where my car was parked before we moved it to the bottom of the mountain.
I received my brand new 35 mm f/1.8 Nikkor lens and had fun playing with it that day, there’s only so much you can photograph inside!
Remember Red? I talked about her on my old blog. She’s the mountain dog we’ve sort of adopted. Adam and I would have taken her home long ago if we knew she’d be okay, but she loves being free to explore too much. Still, I love on her a ton whenever I see her.
And Bo showed off our favorite trick..
Bo is our family dog. We’ve had him for about 10 years now. I think he just turned 13 officially two weeks ago. Anyway, we adopted him from the humane society and the day we took him home I was sitting down, playing with him and the big ol’ bear backed up and sat right on my lap. He’s part chow, hence the black spot on his tongue. I love him.
The snow started falling Christmas morning and didn’t stop for a few days after. We had to deal with losing a night in Asheville and being on hold with the Biltmore for over an hour. There was plenty of stress but luckily we headed to Asheville on Monday, just a day late and enjoyed a much needed vacation, but more on that later!
